How to Repair a Gas Geyser at Home?

How to Repair a Gas Geyser at Home?

A geyser is the most commonly used appliance in winter and requires as much care as any other electronic device. Though manufacturers provide the best parts to deal with the constant heating and cooling, yet even the best parts wear out with continuous pressure. In this article, we’ll discuss some troubleshooting tips to maintain the gas geyser at home. In case you cannot handle the situation at home, you can call the gas geyser repair service in Pune

Troubleshooting For Standard Gas Geysers

Problem: Is the geyser making a clicking noise?

Solutions:

  • Check if your gas cylinder hasn’t run out of gas.
  • If you have newly replaced the gas cylinder, it is possible that you have a vacuum lock. To clear this, detach the gas pipe from the regulator and switch on the gas cylinder for a few seconds. Switch off the gas cylinder, reconnect the pipe and then switch the cylinder on.
  • If the regulator on the cylinder is more than 3 years, it may require replacing. A faulty regulator restricts the gas flow, and the geyser will not ignite without gas. It is always best to buy a good quality regulator.

Problem: Do your geyser’s lights turn off after a few seconds of lighting up?

Solutions: You need to check the batteries and water pressure.

Problem: Is the geyser alternatively piping hot and then cold water?

Solution:

  • This is caused if you have a mixture unit on your taps. With mixture units, hot water should be switched on first & then the cold water should be turned on slowly until you get the required temperature. If the cold water pressure is too strong, it back feeds water into the geyser, causing it to switch off. This can be solved by having a non-return valve fitted between the geyser and the hot tap.
  • If you reside in a hot region, you do not require the winter temperature setting. Making your geyser water too hot will mean you have to use more cold water, which can back-feed into the geyser, causing it to switch off.

Problem: Is your geyser leaking?

Solution: If the water is leaking from the heat exchanger, then the appliance will require a new heat exchanger or even require a complete replacement. It is mostly caused by a catastrophic failure of the burner and its safety features. Or the heat exchanger froze during the cold of the night, and the expansion of ice ruptured the heat exchanger.

Problem: Are huge flames coming out of the geyser?

Solution: It is certainly possible if you have a faulty regulator, and unfortunately, your geyser may be permanently damaged. You can call someone from Urban Repairing to change the regulator and inspect your geyser.

Problem: When you open the tap, the geyser does nothing?

Solution:

  • If the water flowing out of the pipe is very slow, you may have debris in the pipes on the cold or hot water line. Check your geyser’s filter and clean it or check and ensure there is no debris in your pipe.
  • If you have a battery-operated geyser, change the batteries. If you have a fan-forced driven gas geyser, check the unit has 220v power.
  • If you have a fan-forced driven gas geyser, make sure the unit is on at the controller. If you have a controller, most units have a default setting to ‘on’ when they have power.

Problem: The water flowing out of the geyser is not hot enough.

Solution:

  • Check your temperature settings.
  • Check if the gas inlet adjustment is fully open.
  • Check if the water inlet adjustment is fully open.

Problem: Does the water turn cold after a short time?

Solution: Make sure no other hot taps being supplied by this geyser are in use as it splits the geyser’s capacity between the two taps and allows the cold water to become more dominant, resulting in both outlets having luke-warm water. If too many hot water taps are switched simultaneously, the geyser will switch off automatically.

We hope you got the solution to your gas geyser problems. But if you find them time-consuming or the situation is out of control, you can always avail the services of gas geyser repair in Pune to help you out.
