Tips for Geyser Maintenance and Installation

7 Easy Tips for Geyser Maintenance & Installation

A geyser is a daily essential for your household, especially during winters. Like any other electrical appliance, it needs care and maintenance for optimum performance and long life. If you have bought your geyser from top brands, then it has come with quality parts that can handle rapid heating and cooling. However, it is better to do your part by maintaining them so that you don’t have to buy a new geyser every couple of years and look for reliable geyser repair services

Below are some quick yet valuable geyser maintenance and installation tips that will keep your appliance in good condition for a long time.

Keep space between geyser and walls

After buying a geyser, you need to install it on a wall and connect the pipes and connection. While installing it, make sure that you keep some space between the geyser and the walls around it. It gives some breath to the geyser and allows technicians to check it easily when required.

If you need help doing it, hire an expert technician from companies that provide electrical or gas geyser installation in Pune and other cities in India. They will take care of the proper installation.

Install Geyser at some height

It is highly recommended that the height of the geyser from the floor must be at least 6 feet. This helps in getting strong water flow from the geyser to your tap or shower. Keeping it at a low height means the quantity of hot water coming from your tap will be less. You will then need to wait for longer times.

Additionally, you should ensure that you don’t keep any utilities under the geyser. Some people install it on top of the toilet or bathtub. This is not safe for you. Also, if there are some issues with the geyser, the technicians find it difficult to repair it.

Use MCB for Power

If it is an electric geyser, you will need to connect it with power. Geysers are high-power appliances and should not be connected with power boards that you usually use for TVs and mobile charging. It would be better to use a power plug with a Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB).

If there is any short circuit, the MCB trips or switches off automatically and protects your other circuits. Also, it is suggested to use high-quality switches for your safety.

Switch it off after use

This sounds obvious, but many of us either forget to switch it off or leave it on for other family members. Keeping the geyser on for a longer duration negatively impacts the appliance and reduces its life span.

Not every geyser comes with advanced mechanisms that automatically turns off when not in use. So, it is better to switch it on only when you need hot water.

Anode node replacement

Most of the geysers have an anode rod inside the water tank to prevent the appliance from rusting. But the anode rode itself gets rusted if you use the geyser for a few years. After rusting, it doesn’t prevent your geyser from rusting. In this case, your geyser will rust, resulting in lower performance.

To avoid this, you must replace the anode rode once in 2-3 years and keep the anti-corrosion mechanism working. If you find it technical to open the geyser and change the rod, you can hire a technician who provides gas geyser repair in Pune and other regions.

Use Metal Pipes

You must connect metal pipes to your geyser instead of plastic pipes. Since the water at the geyser outlet is hot, it can damage the plastic pipes in the long run. You will then need to use new pipes, involving additional costs. To avoid this, it is suggested to use metal pipes at both inlet and outlet of the geyser water. Metal pipes have a long life span and save you money.

Moderate Temperature

Geysers come with the option to adjust water temperature according to your requirement. A common mistake everyone makes is adjusting the temperature to the maximum so that they get the hottest water.

The main drawbacks of this are that the geyser consumes more electricity and affects its performance in the long run. You should use a low temperature to save electricity and money.

Wrapping Up:

Geysers are daily utilities in every house today. You wouldn’t like frequent repairing of your geyser to buy a new one every year. It would be better to implement these geyser maintenance tips for higher performance and the longer life span of the appliance. In case it needs professional maintenance or repair, you can always hire a professional technician
